Uh, okay!

[ Good thing some of the fences are open. Daisuke walks past the gate and gestures to Chiyo that she should come here too. ]

So when it comes in, we circle around the house and then leave through this fence... then trapping the raccoon. Would that work?

[admiringly]

[ She goes where beckoned and looks at the gates. ]

I think so! Time to test it out. Let's go!

[ The raccoon dog makes for them on its one track path. Chiyo follows Daisuke's plan and begins to circle the house. ]

[ Daisuke easily keeps up while looking back every now and then to make sure the raccoon is still following them. ]

It really does have a one-track mind... Kinda like a real zombie?

[admiringly]

Yeah! It supports my zombie theory, but that somehow doesn't make me feel better about myself.

[ Her laugh is sheepish.

Once they're in the yard and the tanuki enters, she holds up three fingers. ]

Sprint on three? Will you shut the gate?

[ She is 100 percent positive Daisuke is the faster runner, so he'll get through first. ]

[ Daisuke nods in response. He double checks that the gate doesn't have any gaps that would let the tanuki through. ]

On three.

One... two...

[admiringly]

Three!

[ Chiyo books it, and the raccoon is hot on their tails. As soon as she clears the gate, she jumps to the side and turns, wanting to see the raccoon dog safely contained. ]

[ Like how they planned earlier, Daisuke dashed ahead and quickly closed the gate when Chiyo passed through to trap the raccoon. He steps away from the gate a bit to see if the raccoon can no longer chase them.

Please don't squeeze through the gaps, is pretty much what his expression is saying as he stares at the gate. ]

[admiringly]

[ The raccoon slams into the gate. The fence rattles and shakes, but the only thing that comes through between the openings of the gate and fence is a slowly decaying arm.

After a few seconds of the arm waving around helplessly, Chiyo laughs and throws her arms up. ]

S-Safe....! We're safe!

[ She lights up and hugs Daisuke in pure relief. ]

We did it, Daisuke! We did it!

my god

He's getting hugged by Chiyo! And she's so cute!! And they escaped the tanuki together!!! Ah, maybe he can die in peace now? Daisuke feels absurdly happy being hugged by her, but at the same time, he feels so... awkward because he's pondering to hug her back? Would that ruin the atmosphere? This awkwardness would already ruin the atmosphere, wouldn't it? His mind feels like it's on overdrive aaaaAAAAAA

Anyway, he should try to at least look like he's celebrating. ]

Y-Yeah! We did it!

[ Nailed it. ]

[admiringly]

[ He nailed it enough that Chiyo's not questioning it. She lets go and steps back, but her smile is as warm as the sun. ]

I was lucky that you were here with me. Thanks, Daisuke.

[ The victory of trapping the raccoon feels more and more real, and it's enough to wake her up.

The dream fades with Chiyo still smiling. ]
